summer

We admit it doesn’t sound as fun as planning a summer vacation, but it’s a smart move. Getting your plumbing and water-based appliances inspected and serviced can prevent more costly repairs down the road. And, of course, the pros at Zurn Plumbing are here to help.

A few things to think about:

Check Your Water Pressure – High water pressure puts unnecessary stress on your home’s plumbing system, causing blowouts in flex lines or washing machine hoses, leading to flood damage. It only takes a few minutes to test water pressure with a pressure gauge. If your pressure is too high, we can install or replace a pressure regulator to bring it down to a safe level.

Drain Your Water Heater – Over time, sediment builds up in water heaters. If it isn’t removed, it can damage your tank. Periodically draining your tank is the best way to reduce buildup. If you notice rust or metal in the water, give us a call. That means that it’s probably time for anode rod replacement. The anode rod attracts chemicals that can cause the water heater’s tank liner to rust. You may also want to consider having a tankless water heater installed. They use less energy and have a longer life expectancy (20-25 years) than tank units.

Pay Attention to Your Drains – One of the most common plumbing repair calls is clogged drains. A slow drain in your kitchen sink can be due to grease buildup. Although there are several products available in stores that are designed to reduce grease buildup, if you prefer a do-it-yourself option, try pouring boiling, sudsy water down the drain periodically.
