The warmer temps may bring visions of beach trips and outdoor cookouts but, unfortunately, summer is also primetime for many plumbing issues. We have some helpful tips that can help you avoid those problems before they take the fun out of your summer.

Sewer line backups – Roots are a major cause for sewer line backups. If the summer is unusually dry, roots can travel deep beneath the surface inevitably forcing its way into sewer line cracks looking for water. One sign of trouble is water from the toilet backing up into the bathtub drain. Call us as soon as possible if you notice any issues.

Clogged garbage disposal – Summer is a popular time for family get-togethers and cookouts. Inevitably, there will be leftovers, cooking oils, and other scraps that you’ll want to dispose of easily. Make sure that food waste isn’t too hard or bulky. Otherwise, you could damage the dis- posal’s blades. Also, never pour cooking oils down the drain. Over time, it can clog and degrade your plumbing system.

Washing machine malfunctions – With all the trips to the pool and the kids being out of school, washing machines tend to stay busy during the summer. Is your washing machine up to the task? It’s a good idea to keep an eye on your machine while it’s running. That way, if some- thing should happen, you can stop the cycle before there’s major water damage.
